ASTER on site in Almedalen

Tuesday, June 20, 2023

"Being able to share but also take part in valuable knowledge and insights from experts is very important, it is therefore an excellent opportunity to be updated on the latest trends in e-commerce by being on site in Almedalen this year", says Daniel Hellström, Docent, Lund University, Faculty of Technology, Packaging Logistics.

Aster i Almedalen

ASTER participates during the Almedal week in a number of different seminars and events. First of all, we will participate at Hållbar E-handel regarding upcoming legislation is applicable at national and EU level. In this discussion, ASTER will have an important role in describing in a simple way what the regulations look like, what they are supposed to contribute to and why they are challenging and complex for all parts of e-commerce. ASTER is also part of a seminar held by Svensk Handel, here we will talk about how ASTER can enable collaboration for the actors of the e-commerce chain.

It is important that ASTER contributes an overall picture from the entire e-commerce chain and that we highlight all things that can help but also hinder the actors in their work towards a more sustainable e-commerce.

Josephine Darlington, ASTER

"Unfortunately, we see that discussions that include the challenges of e-commerce are often based on perceptions or inputs from a few actors, which entails a risk and can lead to our decision makers acting on insufficient information. We therefore think it is important to highlight the entirety of the e-commerce system, which is difficult to simplify, but requires reasoning that has a strong basis in the area's complexity. This is especially important in relation to recent discussions about returns, deliveries and not least that e-commerce is wrongly equated with just fast fashion" Josephine continues.

It is therefore important that ASTER's partners are on site in Almedalen and raise the overall perspective of their operations and not least by describing how e-commerce can positively contribute to society's development and jointly set goals. At the same time, it is important to highlight the complexity of the challenges the industry is facing in order to clarify how the decision-makers can support the transition of e-commerce in the right way.

We will be on site Wednesday 28 June, Thursday 29 June and Friday 30 June
