On 23 October, ASTER – Alliance for Sustainable E-commerce – in collaboration with Svensk Handel, hosted an industry event bringing together leading e-commerce stakeholders to discuss sustainability, future challenges, and potential solutions. The event featured inspiring discussions, panel debates, and valuable networking, all centred on how the industry can collaborate to achieve ambitious sustainability goals.
Following the event, we interviewed one speaker and two participants to hear their reflections and insights. These conversations have been recorded and are now available as three short videos showcasing how different parts of the industry view the role of collaboration in the transition towards sustainable e-commerce.
Christoffer Andersson, Head of Logistics Development, Apoteket AB
Christoffer highlighted the importance of collaboration in achieving sustainability goals:
"Collaboration is incredibly important for us at Apoteket. As a major retail player and e-commerce actor, our goal is to reduce our CO2 emissions by 50%. We can’t achieve this on our own; we need to collaborate with other retailers and transport companies. Through industry agreements, we can create a clearer path towards fossil-free operations and a sustainable future."
Victoria Herslöf, Stockholm City
Victoria emphasized the value of forums like this in fostering understanding and partnerships:
"It is incredibly rewarding for me, as a representative of Stockholm City, to be part of ASTER and meet many transporters, e-retailers, and Svensk Handel professionals who work with e-commerce issues daily. This gives us a broader perspective and helps us understand how we can collaborate to promote more sustainable trading patterns."
Pelle Lönn, CEO, Early Bird
Pelle reflected on how the industry can unify its voice to drive sustainable change:
"We need to speak with a common voice and help consumers understand sustainability – not just compete over who does it best."
The event exemplifies how ASTER, with funding from the Swedish Energy Agency and Vinnova, creates platforms for dialogue and collaboration. By bringing together stakeholders from society, business, and academia, ASTER works to position Sweden as a leader in sustainable and competitive e-commerce.
